Mattias Hansson, Chairman at SalesInvest in Stockholm, Sweden had a unique and powerful approach to leadership. His virtues consist of one simple mantra; Walk the talk!

  Mattias has rich diversity in his career. His experience ranges from renewable energy to gold and precious metals, data communication, finance and investment as well as telemarketing and both software and hardware. He is a self-made man. He has built himself from the ground up. He has worked as a delivery man, a key account manager and as a sales manager before starting SalesInvest.

Turn The Table

Founded in 2012, Mattias says that the SalesInvest exists because sales are in the middle of everything that is actually working. He adds, “A true leader is an expert in sales, both internally and externally.” 

 With a clear vision and a firm belief system, Mattias says, “We invest in people that have the possibility to be the leader of tomorrow. The actual business is not the most important, but the leader and the team is.” 

In the last eight years, SalesInvest has grown significantly with the help of sheer transparency. Transparency inculcates trust which can be extremely helpful in creating synergy. Talking about this chain reaction, Mattias encourages everyone to think about the person on the other side of the table. “Are you willing to turn the game plan around so you are the customer to your own offer? If yes, go forward, if not, change the offer.”

Mastering the Synergy

Before you even try to attempt creating a safe place fueled by transparency, you need to find the right people. The biggest challenge that Mattias faced during his early years was the same: finding people who are on the same page in terms of their goals and intentions with their respective businesses. 

“Many people are not honest and only looking for short time profits here and now.” But when it comes down to people who are in it for the long haul, you would need strong relationships. Mattias’s emphasis on building quality relationships is pretty straightforward. “Create long term business partners and customers and get rid of all that are not up to your standards.” 

His focus has primarily been on finding the right people. With the right people, a massive goal gets divided into milestones and the goal doesn’t look that massive anymore. “The real value of a business is all the problems that high intelligent and emotional intelligent people can solve together. Limitations are only in our brains.” He adds, “Always try to hire and work with people that are smarter than you.”

Notes on Leadership

But simply hiring the smartest minds won’t help after all. This is where Mattias believes that a little bit of compassion goes a long way. “When you lead by example, you show love, joy, commitment and endurance.” Always put family and the person first, so you can create the possibilities for the largest success. Always be forgiving when there is a chance to, and never ever give up! If you can dream it, you can most certainly do it!” 

Nurturing talent with the right support is a crucial trait of influential leaders. “Give them their freedom to do their job. Help them to be even better in areas they are very good at so that they become excellent. Let someone else help them with things they are not so good at.” 

Not only does this make conversation a two-way street but it creates a solid work environment. “I always demand from my employees to treat the company and make decisions as if it was their own company. For me communication and sales are the same thing, you need to really listen to solve a real problem.” 

To Mattias, leadership is a feeling more than anything else. With his work, Mattias aims to inspire others to fulfill theirs and my dreams. He also believes that personal growth leads to motivation. “If you do what you really like, you will have all the possibilities to be the very best.” 

When asked about what he would do differently if he could go back to his first day at SalesIvest, he says, “If I had the same knowledge as I had then, nothing. If I have the same knowledge as I have today, be more careful with money and have higher demands before you invest, and start with a small investment amount.” 

Mattias is also expanding his portfolio to Artificial Intelligence and Crypto in 2020. MilkyWayCap (MWC) hopes to replicate the success that he has had with SalesInvest.
