Ben Lamm, Hypergiant CEO believes in “Tomorrowing Today”

From a new lease on life, to automating mundane everyday tasks, machine learning and artificial intelligence is focused on improving the quality of life we lead. Ridding ourselves of the evolving threats and the infrastructural challenges (given the trying times we are experiencing) demands a comprehensive outlook and an aggressive approach to tactfully secure fraying ends. Hypergiant has devoted itself to this cause. So far, they have been delivering more than what most of us can imagine is possible

Headquartered at Austin, Texas, Hypergiant is driving innovation across multiple disciplines and CEO Ben Lamm, a serial technology entrepreneur, is driving growth at Hypergiant with agility. He says, “Hypergiant was set up to tomorrow today and to bring the best of the future to right now with a focus on the core infrastructure that we consider to be essential for healthy civilization. It was obvious to us to go after space, defense and critical infrastructure because they were all on the cusp of technology revolutions specifically around where AI can be leveraged.”

While to a layman’s eye the vision may sound extra-terrestrial – beaming with a sci-fi glow, there are so many profound layers to it. Explaining the belief system of the organisation, Lamm comments, “This means that we are constantly focused on the technologies and ideas that will help us live the future we were promised today. This set the agenda for everything we do and is the lens through which we look at the world. So, it’s our vision statement but it’s also our everything statement.”
Hypergiant has evolved strategically and with extreme agility to acquire five companies since its inception in 2018. In addition to listening to the employees, Lamm also emphasizes prescience: a degree of forward thinking that encourages critical examination of real world dynamics. “I think it is also about interpreting what they need before they even know they need it. Part of building culture is creating spaces for people to get together, a vision for collectively striving together, and opportunities for people to reach their highest potential. When we do that, we create a company that is the best company to work for and the best culture to be part of. The vision and cultural zeitgeist of an organization should be represented in all facets of a company’s brand and messaging,” he says.

He has found a unique market whose demands needed to be met and therefore, when their offerings kept hitting the market, the market simply responded to it. “We have an incredibly talented and passionate team that has really been the key driver behind our great products and services. Our incredible people continue to stay in front of the curve of the market.”

Talking about the future of machine learning and artificial intelligence, Lamm calls the fate of the technology ubiquitous. He explains it with a perfect analogy of dot com companies. “Remember when we had dot com companies? And, then remember when everyone became a dot com company because we all had to be online? I think we are having a moment like that where in the next five years, everyone will utilize intelligent technologies across their business units to help deliver business outcomes at scale. It will be a seamless normal and then someday, bygone technology.”
Having a curious mind comes with it’s own set of challenges. One knows the challenges and thus comes the responsibility to act on it. Climate change worries Lamm. “Not only is it a major issue for us as a society, it’s one of the biggest issues for the security of our nation.” And thus his CSR endeavors focus on issues like reforestation. “We look at issues like rewilding and reforestation and we also look at ways to improve the city we are in and make up for things like the economic and social inequalities that are exacerbated by insecure systems and their outputs i.e. climate change.“

Their newest launch, Hyper Intelligent Vehicle Enhancement (H.I.V.E.) bears the potential to solve a multitude of problems. The platform allows coordinated and remote operations through a secure, cloud-based environment from a variety of hardware platforms, including mobile and tablet.

“Hyper Intelligent Vehicle Enhancement Fleet Operations Fleet Operations Platform is for Commercial, Defense and Government Customers to help them manage ground control platforms to maximize and augment critical information flow for autonomous satellite operations and management. Recent developments at government and commercial flight operation centers show that COVID has the potential to shut or slow down critical operations that require personnel to work in close proximity on-premises.”

Lamm adds, “H.I.V.E. is a unique software offering that empowers maximum telework flexibility while providing AI-driven disaster-response capabilities and autonomous satellite operations for commercial and government entities. H.I.V.E. features a next-gen UI layer that streamlines and distills actionable information for critical decision support, as well as an AI layer that aids in disaster response through predictive tasking of orbital assets by ingesting and correlating external data sources such as FEMA databases, RSS streams, and Twitter feeds.”

The versatility with which Hypergiant approaches artificial intelligence is stellar. The only question that remains is what are the new promises that our tomorrows hold now that we are tomorrowing today?
