As education has sprung out from 4 walls to a device, the recent tool of Ed-tech has become students’ new favorite. Dialogue-based learning has gained popularity among peers, and most of this popularity is inclined towards CLASSUM.
One of the biggest factors driving the success is the founder. Being students themselves, they witnessed the problems first-handily and came up with a solution. Two students from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), Chaerin Lee and Youjin Choi laid the foundation of CLASSUM in 2018 with a mission to address the challenges of learning that they faced.
Today the platform is used by over 4,000 institutions globally, and CLASSUM is continually breaking barriers of communication and build learning environments that foster growth and collaboration. Due to CLASSUM’s inspiring Ed-tech and talent technology start-ups across six continents, GSV Cup selected it as one of their Elite 200 in 2020. Moreover, the CEO and founder, Chaerin Lee was recently recognized as a member of the Forbes 30 under 30, Asia Class of 2021, for CLASSUM’s innovative approach to communication challenges in education.
CLASSUM is a combination of two words—Class and Forum. Ed-tech has today become a crowded space with many participants emerging every day. In this competitive landscape, it is important to be distinctive. CLASSUM is thriving in this competition due to its cutting-edge features like,
Friendly User Experience & Interface: CLASSUM eliminated all the noise and created a modern and intuitive interface so that students and professors could focus on what matters. Icons, texts, color schemes, positioning, features, all details are carefully researched and designed to enhance the learning experience.

With the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic, lectures were shifted to video sessions. Aiding to these video sessions, CLASSUM has launched its new ‘Live Sessions’ feature, marking the beginning of a new partnership with Zoom—a video-conferencing platform. This feature combines Zoom’s existing tools with CLASSUM’s chat functions to increase and improve students’ engagement. The goal is to give course participants more opportunities to engage than what is generally available on Zoom. Apart from this, CLASSUM has also built several features to combat issues that users have raised with the existing video-conferencing tools adapted for classroom use.
Youjin Choi said, “We found that the most valuable learning comes from critical thinking and human exchanges that often begin with asking questions, and that’s what we hope CLASSUM will bring to learners and educators around the world.”
As a leading Ed-tech company, CLASSUM’s team is continually working to update new features, adding and improving support for a variety of course styles based on the active feedback of users.
