The 94th Academy awards will be held in Hollywood on 27th March. Although it has been reported that the guests will not require proof of COVID-19 vaccination to attend the event.
The guests attending the Oscar ceremony will require to submit a negative PCR test or rapid antigen test on the day of the event. The guests are encouraged to be vaccinated however there are no mandatory rules. Also, the guests that are not vaccinated will have to comply with stricter testing requirements.
Oscars return to Hollywood
Last year the Academy Awards were held on a smaller scale at the Union Station in Los Angeles. In 2022, the Oscars will return to Hollywood and will be held at the Dolby Theater. Furthermore, after 2018, this ceremony will have a host but the name is yet to be announced.
The Chief Operating Officer of the Critics’ Choice Association, Joey Berlin stated, “We will be 100% vaccinated and require a negative PCR test within 48 hours of the event. I can’t invite people to a show where they’re not going to feel safe.”
94th Academy Nominations
As predicted, Jane Champion’s The Power Dog has swept majority nominations at the Oscars. It has been nominated for 12 categories. The adapted movie Dune has been nominated under 10 categories and ranks second on the popularity list.
Among the several nominations, the surprising entry was the nomination of Best Picture for Adam McKay’s Don’t Look Up and the Best International Feature nomination for the Bhutanese film Lunana: A Yak in the Classroom.
Andrew Garfield has been nominated for the Best Actor category for the movie “Tick, Tick…Boom!” The actor has been accumulating praise for the performance in the movie. Other nominations in the best actor category are Javier Bardem for Being the Ricardos, Benedict Cumberbatch for The Power of the Dog, Will Smith for King Richard, and Denzel Washington for The Tragedy of Macbeth.
