DENVER, PepsiCo Beverages North America acquired almost 152 acres of land at the Denver High Point development area. As a result, PepsiCo will construct a state-of-the-art, 1.2 million sq ft manufacturing facility in Colorado. It will be the most extensive beverage plant in the US post its opening next summer.
The new bottling plant will create nearly 250 new jobs in the Denver area as it replaces three times the capacity of the nearby facility. It will also retain all 250 current employees at the nearby plant. It will produce many of the company’s popular beverage products, including Pepsi, Pepsi Zero Sugar, Bubly, Rockstar, Gatorade, Propel, and Muscle Milk.
PepsiCo did not disclose the price of the new facility. However, the president of PepsiCo Beverages North America’s West Division, Johannes Evenblij, said that the beverage plant would serve as a model for the future of the supply chain.
Why Did PepsiCo Pick Colorado?
The company chose Colorado for the new larger plant because of Denver’s highly educated & skilled workforce and since PepsiCo Beverages has operated for almost 75 years. The current employee strength of the company stands at 1200.
PepsiCo’s decision to construct a new plant mirrors other CPGs in the food and beverage space. Several companies have announced plans to build new facilities or add to existing buildings to prepare for future demand.
PepsiCo Report
As per the PepsiCo report this week, beverage sales were mixed for the CPG giant during the previous quarter. While its North American beverage unit posted organic revenue growth of 9% compared to a year prior, product volume edged lower by 1%.
The company mentioned that PepsiCo is incorporating environmentally friendly attributes into its new facility. The Colorado location is the most sustainable PepsiCo Beverages North America plant in the United States. It will aim to achieve 100% renewable electricity, best-in-class water efficiency, and reduced virgin plastic use.
