HBO Max has announced that it will launch its streaming service in 15 European countries on March 8. The countries include Poland, Portugal, and Romania making it available in 61 territories across Europe and America.

HBO Max at 33% off

HBO Max offers a relatively competitive price for its monthly subscription. But in Eastern Europe and Portugal, the customers that sign up during the launch will get HBO Max for 33% off for life.

HBO’s monthly subscription in Portugal is 4.99 Euros/month and HBO Max is priced at 5.99 Euros/month. The existing customers and the new ones that sign up in March will pay only 3.99 Euros/month.

There was no official statement regarding the prices for the Netherlands.

Growing the HBO Subscribers

Regarding this new launch, Johannes Larcher (head of HBO Max International), stated, “We only started launching HBO Max in new markets in the middle of last year and added almost 8 million subscribers outside the U.S. in 2021.”

Later this year, HBO Max plans to launch the streaming services in other European countries like Greece and Turkey. Yet, it will not be available in the UK, Italy, and Germany for the coming few years due to the existing deal with Sky.

In 2021, HBO accounted for 73.8 million subscribers for both its cable network and streaming service. By 2026, the company plans to launch HBO Max in 190 countries. There are no roadmaps underway for Asia yet.
