Apple is one of the most renowned tech companies in the world. The company has expanded at a rapid speed in the last few years. We have seen the total domination of Apple in various sectors. The company offers numerous apps such as Apple Maps, Apple Music, Apple tv, and other which is supported in the Apple ecosystem,

Recently, there were reports that Apple is pushing Spotify from its dock. Kevin Archer shared a video showing when apple music is installed it pushes Spotify off the docks. However, Apple clarifies it as a bug.

Indirectly promoting First party Apps?

Achers says this incident points out on how Apple is indirectly promoting Apple music over Spotify. Also, when any third-party apps are in the fourth slot in the dock whereas the first party apps like Apple’s camera app don’t get effects.

Verifying the situation, AppleInsider tested and found out that regardless of the first party or third party apps; the apps got bumped out of that place. This was done by reinstalling the default apps. Furthermore, it checked with the apps like Spotify, Amazon Music, Tidal, and Photos. On reinstalling, it was relieved that apple music was bumped photos as it was the slot apple music should be placed.

Similar to other phones available in the market, iPhone also comes up with a few pre-installed apps and four are automatically set to the dock. It gives the user the option to delete the default apps if they aren’t using them. User can later install the apps from the dedicated apps store if the apps are available in the store at that time.

The preinstalled apps have a preconfigured location—especially the default apps. This creates pushes the apps to the default location no matter what app is present at that particular location. However, this is not the case with the third-party apps when they are reinstalled, they do attempt to reinstall in the previously configured location on the home screen but never allow the dock. Since there are default apps locked into the dock by the OS. This seems like a bug.

Apple via AppleInsider stated the behavior is a bug and will be looking into it. Recently, there were antitrust complaints from various regulators, developers, and users. These complaints have made Apple take a defensive position surrounding iOS and the App Store. Apple claims that the company has always treated it equally with transparent rules.
