The company stated that it envisioned news as part of a broader streaming offering which would also comprise nonfiction, entertainment, and sports. Now it will be shutting down the nascent streaming service to invest the resources in CNN’s core news-gathering operations.
CNN+ will shut down
The streaming service CNN+ will no longer operate after April 30. The customers who have subscribed to the channel will receive refunds. The statement from CNN Worldwide Chairman and CEO, Chris Licht read, “Our customers and CNN will be best served with a simpler streaming choice.”
CNN launched the streaming service CNN+ with intending to capitalize on the rising popularity of streaming video services and the growth of digital subscriptions by major news organizations. CNN+ offered a combination of live, interactive programming, and on-demand emphasizing the original content.
Superman revived by Warner Bros. & Discovery
